Mission:
To provide a free and appropriate public education to students with diverse abilities in the Least
Restrictive Environment that results in Improved Academic Outcomes; to comply with all state and
federal mandates; and to contain the costs associated with these efforts.
Vision:
Imagine the Student Intervention and Support Services Department as a professional service firm:
  • Where the people unite around a spirit of service, accountability, continuous improvement, and advocacy for students with diverse abilities,
  • Where relationships between people are characterized by trust, cooperation, collaboration, and deliberate fellowship,
  • Where efficiency, effectiveness, professionalism, and enthusiasm are commonplace.
  • Our people share in the good times with a sense of community and celebration.
  • Bad times are owned by all and are seen as opportunities to improve our products, our processes, and our services.
  • Common goals, values, and beliefs define the context of our work.
  • Every student has a thoughtfully created Individualized Educational Plan that is in total compliance with state and federal laws.
  • All classrooms are equipped with high tech tools that support innovation, creativity, and research based instructional practices.
  • Highly qualified and credentialed teaching, administrative, professional, and para-professional staff members set exceptionally high expectations for themselves as well as for our students.
  • Adaptive equipment and assistive technology is state of the art.
  • Textbooks and other curricular materials help to minimize the impact of the disability and facilitate access to the general education curriculum.
  • Parents and community partners are active members of our students’ learning communities…
  • Parents and community partners are fully involved and engaged in the educational outcomes of our students as they make successful transitions from school to work.
  • Parents and community partners model lifelong learning, responsible citizenship and are functioning members of
A New Student Intervention and Support Services Department
and high performance professional learning community.

Beliefs
  • All students can learn (without exception)
  • Success Breeds Success
  • Schools control the conditions of success
  • Students are only disabled to the extent that the environment places limitations on their performance
  • Students are more disinvited than they are disadvantaged, disabled, or undisciplined.
  • What we do (everyday!) matters.
  • Human potential, though not always apparent, is always there and awaiting to be invited forth.
