Freshman Welcome Wagongate Party

Hey Freshmen! Getting excited for your first high school home football game?  Then make sure to come celebrate before the game at Wagongate, acookout and carnival with free hotdogs, drinks, cotton candy and sno-cones.  Wagongate will take place on Friday, September 5th from 5-7pm (make sure to arrive early) at the flagpole entrance.  There will also be a DJ, a 70-ft long inflatable obstacle course, jousting and basketball games, and a huge moonwalk! All freshmen must be wearing their purple wristbands to enter and receive free food and fun.  You will get these wristbands in your Civics classes the day of the event.  Hope to see you there!

This is an urgent announcement for 9th graders from the OG’s.  The freshmen pizza lunch has been rescheduled from tomorrow, the 12th, to next Tuesday, September 16th. Dont forget - thats NEXT TUESDAY! All freshmen are to go to C-2 during lunch for free food.

 

Attention anyone who still needs an i.d. picture taken: Come to the General Office this week at the beginning of lunch - bring a copy of your schedule.  If you are a junior or senior, please bring your signed Off-Campus form.

 

Attention student drivers: Parking permits remain on sale in the general office today and tomorrow. Vehicles without permits will be ticketed beginning September 15th.  You'll need to complete a blue registration form from the General Office counter, including a parent signature to receive a pass.

 

7th hour bus passes for the 10th & 12th grades will be given out at the Clock Tower entrance during lunch today. 9th & 11th graders will be given out at the same location tomorrow. Bring your schedule to show you have a 7th hour class.

 

Freshmen: Please pick up your pre-paid class of 2012 t-shirt during lunch or after school. You can also buy one if you did not pre-order a shirt. You really want to wear your class shirt during Spirit Week, so dont delay. The 9th Grade Office is in the administrative office area.

 

All school clubs must register yearly in order to be recognized by Pioneer. If you are an officer or an advisor of a club from last year, and want your club to continue this year, or if you want to start a new club, you must get fill out the proper form from C-229 (10th Grade Office).

 

The CR deadline is today, September 11th. Ms. Jacquette is at Pioneer every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon, to answer questions about CRs and online classes.

 

The last day to drop/add a class is tomorrow, September 12th.

 

SENIORS: We will begin accepting college applications in the general office on Monday, September 15th. If you complete your application online, please fill out an orange sheet in the genera office and attach it to the counselor page of your application. We cannot send out your transcript, or recommendations unless you do your part and submit the proper information to the general office. If you have questions, please see your counselor.

 

Pioneer Republicans will have their first meeting today at lunch in E1 Portable, discussing t-shirts, 9/11, constitution day, and most importantly volunteering for the McCain campaign! Country first!

 

Conditioning for women's basketball and women's track and field begins Monday September 22 from 3:45 till 5:45. See Ms. Westfield or students Ariel Roberts, Amanda Maher, or Christina Wade for details.

If you are planning to work as an election inspector for the November General Election, get all the forms to Mrs. Dahl by Friday September 12th, after school, in person only!  Attention current applicants, Mrs. Dahls camera was stolen from her room so please come back to have your picture re-taken!!!

 

Tues. Sept. 16, PTSO meeting in the Little Theater. Mr. White will address questions and give a school update from 7-7:30. The meeting starts at 7:30. Come meet school administrators and learn about school activities and opportunities for students. All are welcome!

COLLEGE VISITS today: Adrian College - 8 a.m., Wabash College - 8:30, NROTC Marines - 9:30, and Barnard at 11:30. Bring a signed pass.  Tuesday's college visits are: Hamilton College - 10 a.m., Denison - 11:30, and Morehouse - 1 p.m. Wednesday's college visits are: New York University - 9 a.m., Saginaw Valley State - 9:30, and University of Pennsylvania -1 p.m.

 

Attention Freshmen: As you may know, tomorrow is the OG/freshmen lunch. Come to C-2 and C-3 at lunch for pizza, drinks, and exciting fun. Room assignments will be posted around the school. Thats tomorrow in C-2 at lunchtime - be there!

7th hour Bus Passes:  If you need a 7th hour bus pass - you must go to your class office by this Friday during lunch.  Bring your I.D. and schedule showing your 7th hour class.  Class office locations are as follows:

Remember, this Friday during lunch is the last day we will have the passes.

Attention students working for the presidential election! This Saturday, September 20 is the first required class for orientation. Hours are 9:00-1:30. You MUST be early!! Bring a pen! Mrs. Dahl will bring your paperwork. The orientation is at City Hall.

 

All students' school photos have arrived. If you ordered photos, you may pick them up during lunch today in the Gymnastics Room (off the cafeteria) today.

9th and 10th graders should enter through the cafeteria door.

11th and 12th graders should enter through the door closest to the gym.

 

Freshmen may also pick up their photos on Tuesday during the OG pizza luncheon.

For All Seniors! Your graduation ordering dates are N - Z, today & tomorrow. Anyone else that has not turned in their orders can do so on these days during lunch in A Halll, near Schreiber Auditorium.

Juniors: The MME exam will begin tomorrow, Tuesday and continue Wednesday and Thursday. Tests start at 7:40. 10th Graders: Sophomores will take the ACT Plan this Wednesday. This test is one day only and starts at 7:40. You will have a late start on Thursday. 9th, 10th & 12th Grade Students: DO NOT have school on Tuesday. But, on Wednesday and Thursday you will have a half-day starting with lunch at 10:45. If you ride the bus, you must come to school at the usual time. There will be activities in the gym and Little Theater. Details of this schedule will be sent home in your grade mailings. Reminder to all 11th & 12th grade students taking the MME:

 

-All students are required to take the MME in order to graduate.

-You must be on time or you risk not being able to take the test.

-You must show picture identification in order to test.

-Do not bring cell phones or any other electronic equipment.

-Bring only the allowed calculators. You received the list at the MME registration.                                                                                                     -Eat Breakfast! We will have snacks at the beginning of the morning but no food is allowed in theTesting rooms. Tuesday will be a long day (until 1:00) so eat a good breakfast.

The 2009 Summer Testing Out session is on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Washtenaw Intermediate School District, 1819 S. Wagner Rd. To test out of a course listed, you must access the AAPS moodle site to register. To start your registration process go to the Ann Arbor Public Schools website, under “Especially for Sudents.” This will take you to the July 2009 Testing Out Info. Registration is now open and closes on April 10 at 4:00 p.m. The next opportunity for testing out will be July 2010.

 

The 24 Annual Ann Arbor College and Career Fair is April 2 in the Pioneer Cafeteria from 6 - 8. All students are welcome.

Juniors and Seniors interested in earning volunteer hours can sign up in the Career Center to help with the College Fair on April 2. You will have a chance to meet and assist college admissions representatives.

 

Need Help in Spanish? Come get help at La Mesa Espanol in C-218 at lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Pioneer Band students received 72 first division and 21 second division ratings in SOLO performance, as well as 64 first division and 14 second division ratings in ENSEMBLE performance at the STATE Solo and Ensemble. Festivals held on March 28 at Chelsea High School.

Seniors! Prom tickets are on sale this week at lunchtime in A Hall for $25. The last day to purchase tickets is Friday, May 8 and they will not be sold at the door on prom night.

 

Spaghetti Dinner Time! On Wednesday, May 6th Pioneer Football will Host its annual fundraiser. Find a Pioneer Football athlete to purchase your tickets. Don't miss all you can eat spaghetti, deserts, and a live auction!

Because of the Early Release Day, Mrs. Macke is going to let people have another shot at the Rubik's Cube contest Wednesday in Room E110B at lunch. Top three times will win a prize.

Dance Team tryouts for the 2009-2010 season will be held on May 7th and 8th in the Gymnastics Room at 3:30 PM.
